Descriptiontext

Great Eastern Holdings Limited is a Singapore-headquartered insurance and wealth management group founded in 1908 and listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX: G07). It underwrites life, health, and general insurance and offers wealth accumulation and retirement income products across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. The group operates through wholly-owned subsidiaries The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited, Great Eastern General Insurance Ltd, Great Eastern Financial Advisers Private Limited, and Lion Global Investors (which launched Singapore's first home-grown physical gold ETF on SGX in March 2026).

The core technology stack is a conventional insurance platform supporting tied-agency distribution, digital self-service via the Great Eastern App, the eConnect web portal, and the Digital Buy Online storefront. Investment-linked plans route customer savings into GreatLink Funds managed in partnership with J.P. Morgan Asset Management, including Dynamic Portfolios and over 30 selectable sub-funds. Recent product engineering has emphasized long-term care (GREAT CareShield), HNW wealth and legacy solutions (Prestige Series, Great Eastern Private launched March 2026), and MOH-compliant Integrated Shield Plan riders relaunched April 2026.

Revenue is generated through insurance premiums (regular and single premium across life, health, accident, travel, car, home, maid lines), investment-linked fund management fees (GreatLink Funds and Lion Global Investors AUM), and investment returns on the shareholders' fund (FY2025 shareholders' fund profit S$390.9 million, up 48% year-on-year). Distribution is multi-channel: tied financial representatives, OCBC bancassurance including Bank of Singapore private-wealth referrals under shared targets ('whole-of-wealth' model), digital self-service, and event marketing such as the OCBC-Great Eastern Pickleball Open (October 2026). OCBC holds a 93.7% ownership stake, providing both captive distribution and capital backing, and publicly ruled out further privatization attempts in April 2026.
