Descriptiontext

Laser Quantum LLC is a UK-based engineering company founded in 1994 and headquartered in Stockport, operating as a subsidiary within the Novanta Photonics division of Novanta. The company designs and manufactures diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers, ultrafast (femtosecond and picosecond) lasers, and laser amplifiers, with a portfolio that also includes laser beam steering components (galvanometers, scan heads, resonant scanners, precision mirrors), controllers, and engineered sub-systems. Its technology is differentiated by claimed class-leading dynamic range in CO2 lasers (vi30+ and i501 product families), compact and energy-efficient ultrafast laser designs, and integration of proprietary control software for real-time performance monitoring. The business model is a B2B hardware revenue model: the company sells precision photonics directly to OEMs and system architects under quote-based enterprise field sales, with no public pricing disclosed. Targeted end markets are segmented horizontally across manufacturing and precision processing, medical and life sciences, energy (notably Li-ion battery and solar photovoltaic), scientific research, and converting/packaging. Distribution, global customer service, and a worldwide CO2 gas refill program are delivered through the parent Novanta platform, which positions Laser Quantum primarily as a design-in component supplier to instrument and equipment manufacturers rather than a standalone end-product brand. The named leadership comprises CEO Lawrie Gloster alongside founders Steve Lane and Alan Cox.
