Descriptiontext

Chemco is an India-based plastics manufacturer headquartered in Mumbai that has repositioned around bottle-to-bottle PET recycling and food-grade recycled PET (rPET) resin production. Founded in 1980, the company historically produced cosmetic bottles, dispensers, containers, jars, caps, shrink wraps, and films, and has now extended into processing post-consumer PET bottles into food-grade rPET resin suitable for direct food-contact packaging applications. Its core product line is food-grade rPET resin manufactured at a newly commissioned facility in Sanand, Gujarat, using Starlinger bottle-to-bottle recycling technology with capacity to process over 1 billion post-consumer PET bottles annually. The company also operates a May 2025 joint venture with Kandoi Group of Industries, committing USD 54.4 million to two additional renewable-energy-powered PET recycling plants in Gujarat that will add capacity for over 10 million bottles daily.

Chemco holds authorization from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to manufacture food-grade rPET resin under the Food Safety & Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018, placing it among a select group of Indian producers permitted to supply rPET for direct food and beverage packaging. The company is pursuing a B2B sales model targeting brand owners and packaging manufacturers in India, positioning its offering to help customers comply with India's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mandates requiring 40% recycled content in Category I rigid plastic packaging by FY 2026-27 and 60% by FY 2028-29. Revenue is generated through hardware sales of rPET resin and recycled materials to consumer goods companies and food & beverage brands, with pricing not publicly disclosed. Geographic focus is exclusively domestic (India), with no international footprint indicated in available sources.
