Descriptiontext

Charlotte Athletics is the official athletics department of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a public state university in North Carolina. It operates as an institutional unit — not an independent corporate entity — and fields 21 NCAA Division I varsity sports as a member of The American Athletic Conference. The department's primary served audience is the university's students, alumni, and Charlotte-metro community, with secondary reach to national fans and NIL partners. Programs span men's and women's basketball, baseball, football, soccer, golf, tennis, cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, women's lacrosse, women's volleyball, and softball.

The department's digital infrastructure runs on the Sidearm Sports platform, which powers the official charlotte49ers.com website, mobile application, event scheduling, roster management, news publishing, and fan engagement features. Complementary technology products include a proprietary ticketing portal (charlotte49ers.evenue.net), the SeatGeek secondary marketplace for ticket resale, a Fanatics-powered Nike apparel online store, the inflcr-based Niner Exchange for NIL transactions, and the news/scoreboard functionality embedded across the athletics site. These components are integrated third-party SaaS and marketplace products rather than internally developed IP.

Charlotte Athletics generates revenue through a mix of season and single-game ticket sales (with subscription-style packages for Men's and Women's Basketball), corporate partnerships, donor contributions via the 49er Club athletic fundraising program, merchandise sales through the official online store, and NIL-related activity through the Niner Collective and Charlotte's Stock Is Rising fanshare campaign. The recently launched Charlotte 49ers Ventures entity is intended to unify ticket sales and corporate partnerships under a CRO-led revenue function. Membership tiers, youth engagement (Junior 49er Club), and an alumni athlete recognition program (Niner Varsity Club) supplement core revenue with lifecycle-based donor touchpoints. Distribution of merchandise and ticketing spans direct online sales, marketplace partners, and venue box offices across the Southeast U.S.
