What Discovery Buildings does

Discovery Buildings is a privately held, Florida-based metal building retailer that designs, manufactures, delivers, and installs custom steel structures for residential, agricultural, equestrian, commercial, and alternative-housing customers across 21 US states. Its product portfolio spans carports, garages, horse barns, commercial clear-span buildings, barndominium shells, farm and agricultural structures, covered riding arenas, RV and boat covers, and DIY building kits. The underlying technology is galvanized or painted steel framing with three roof style options (Regular, A-Frame Horizontal, Vertical), engineered to local wind and snow loads, with buildings available up to 100 feet wide. A proprietary browser-based 3D Builder tool allows customers to self-serve building configuration, customize dimensions, colors, doors, and windows, and obtain real-time pricing with 3D visualization.

The company operates a direct-to-consumer go-to-market combining product-led growth through the 3D Builder with an inside sales motion via phone and a physical demo lot at its Mims, FL headquarters. Pricing is custom and quote-based, bundled with free delivery and professional installation in most service areas. Revenue is generated primarily through one-time unit sales of buildings, supplemented by financing services offered through a partnership with HFS Financial, including rent-to-own options. Warranties (20-year limited rust-through and lifetime on certified units) and a workforce of 251-500 employees support the regional installer network. Customer acquisition relies on a mix of SEO/organic search, content marketing, social media (Facebook, Instagram), email/SMS, and phone-based sales consultation.
