What Zoo Architectural Hardware does

Zoo Architectural Hardware, operating legally as ERA Home Security Ltd T/A Zoo Hardware, is a UK-based designer and supplier of architectural door hardware. The company was founded around 2008–2009 in a portable cabin with three employees and is now headquartered in Carlisle, Cumbria, with a registered office in Wolverhampton. It serves architectural specifiers, contractors and builders, stockists and distributors, and end homeowners in the United Kingdom.

Its core catalogue spans hinges, locks, letterplates, door furniture, and access-control products, with notable technical positions including a Grade 13 Lift-Off Hinge with 60-minute fire resistance, BS EN 1634-1 compliance testing, Certifire scheme certification, and BSI accreditation. The portfolio also includes an exclusive Italian-designed Rosso Maniglie aesthetic range and dedicated Flexifire and access-control product families that extend into fire-safety and electronic locking applications.

Zoo distributes through a UK-wide stockist network supported by an in-house sales team, generating revenue on a wholesale basis across its hardware lines. A 10-year product guarantee and an 18-month finish guarantee underpin its channel and end-user positioning. The company has operated as a subsidiary of ERA Home Security since 2018 and, since 2024, has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Quanex Building Products Corporation (NYSE: NX), giving it access to a global parent in the fenestration and security market while remaining focused on the UK domestic market.
