Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce

What Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce does

Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1968 and headquartered at 420 East German Street, Herkimer, NY. Its stated mission is to foster a positive business environment for private and public entities operating in the county, supporting the continuation and growth of current and new businesses in the region. The organization functions as the central hub connecting local businesses, visitors, and community resources across Herkimer County, including the Old Forge area in the Adirondack Park.

The Chamber's core offerings include membership services, an online member directory, a chamber events calendar, community events listings, a job board, visitor and tourism information (including the Herkimer County Beverage Trail), and sponsorship programs. The technology platform powering these functions is GrowthZone, which provides the website, directory, events calendar, and member management system. Marketing and engagement channels include Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and an email newsletter. Strategic partnerships extend the Chamber's reach into grant administration (ANCA, Herkimer County IDA, Village of Herkimer DRI Small Project Grant), health and wellness programming (Excellus BCBS), and economic development.

Revenue is generated primarily through recurring membership dues paid annually by member businesses, supplemented by sponsorships and events. Pricing is not publicly disclosed; prospective members are directed to contact the Chamber directly. The member base is horizontally diversified across hospitality, banking, healthcare, education, insurance, construction, energy, and retail — mixing small local businesses (Red Roof Inn, Grand Colonial B&B, B&K Fencing) with enterprise members (NBT Bank, Excellus, Herkimer College, EDF Renewables, AmeriCU). The organization does not pursue geographic expansion beyond Herkimer County and operates without disclosed funding rounds, acquisitions, or AI/ML capabilities.
