Skovby Mobelfabrik

What Skovby Mobelfabrik does

Skovby Møbelfabrik A/S is a family-owned Danish furniture manufacturer founded in 1933 and headquartered in Galten, Denmark, employing 251–500 people. The company designs and produces 100% Danish-designed home furniture — centered on extendable dining tables, ergonomic dining chairs, and storage furniture (sideboards, display cabinets, TV cabinets) — alongside complementary items such as coffee tables, benches, stools, and home desks. Its technical core is a set of patented mechanical extension mechanisms (e.g., the #24 table's four-leg-to-eight-leg split, synchronous leaf-unfolding systems on #116/#117/#33, the Dutch pull-out on #126, and semi-automatic folding doors on the #544 sideboard), supported by quality validation through Danish Technological Institute testing (e.g., chairs tested to 50,000 tilting cycles and approved for public/commercial use).

Revenue is generated through wholesale of finished furniture via an exclusive authorized dealer/retailer network spanning Denmark, broader Europe, the USA, and Canada; the company does not sell directly to end consumers and does not publish pricing. Marketing is conducted through a multi-language website (Danish, English, German), an online flip-book catalogue, newsletter signup, social sharing on Facebook/Pinterest/LinkedIn, and a store locator directing customers to local stockists. The company positions on Danish design heritage, craftsmanship, sustainability (1,634+ trees planted, products made from production offcuts), and post-sale care (Skovby Care Collection of oils, cleaners, and sanding products). Sub-brands VERSA, Norra by Skovby, and Modo by Skovby indicate ongoing diversification into modular storage and configurable furniture categories.
