Club Natacion Madrid Moscardo

What Club Natacion Madrid Moscardo does

Club Natación Madrid Moscardó is a private, non-profit sports association founded in 1973 and headquartered in the Usera district of Madrid, Spain. The club operates the Centro Deportivo Municipal Moscardó (CDM Moscardó) — a municipally subsidized sports complex at Calle de Andrés Arteaga 5 — under an operating agreement with the Madrid City Council. It delivers a comprehensive portfolio of aquatic and fitness services, including competitive swimming (from Benjamín through Absoluto age categories), water polo teams across youth and senior levels, a Master competitive program for adults aged 20+, children's and adult swimming lessons, seniors' swimming, directed activities (aquagym, tonificación, sala), paddle tennis, and summer day camps. The club is affiliated with the Federación Madrileña de Natación (FMN) and Real Federación Española de Natación (RFEN), enabling competitive participation in regional and national championships.

Its revenue model is built on three recurring fee streams: monthly membership subscriptions (e.g., the Master program at €40/month plus an €11 enrollment fee), program registration fees for specialized classes and camps, and federation license pass-throughs (FMN/RFEN) for competitive swimmers. Distribution is direct-to-consumer: members register via the club's website (clubnatacionmadrid.es) or on-site at CDM Moscardó, with pool access also reserved through the Madrid municipal reservation system (sede.madrid.es). The club uses MatchPoint, a third-party club management platform, for membership, scheduling, and reservations, complemented by a branded mobile application on iOS and Android. As of September 2023, approximately 2,850 citizens were enrolled in activities (roughly half children), and the summer pool recorded 53,215 visits during the 2023 season.

The organization is led by President Yolanda Núñez and Director Gerente Javier García, with sporting direction split between Rubén Ferriero (water polo) and Pablo Abadía (swimming) following the September 2024 passing of long-tenured Director Deportivo Anselmo González Mallo. In February 2025 the club received the Club Histórico – Categoría Bronce distinction from the Madrid City Council, formally recognizing 50+ years of contribution to Madrid's sporting landscape, and in June 2025 the 50m summer pool reopened after 10 months of municipal-funded renovation works.
