What Batimat Architects does
Batimat Architects is a privately held, medium-sized architectural design consultancy founded in 1976 by Assouman Tourbah and headquartered in Achrafieh, Beirut, Lebanon. The firm delivers comprehensive architectural and interior design services spanning residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, institutional, landscape, and urban projects, and also provides project management, feasibility studies, and turnkey design-build solutions. Over more than three decades it has completed and remained actively involved in more than 200 projects across Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, and Congo, and has participated in additional multinational projects and competitions.
The firm is recognized for a contemporary, rationalist design methodology that emphasizes cultural appropriateness alongside sustainability and the latest technology. Its revenue model is professional-services-based: fees are charged per project engagement, with pricing varying by scope, complexity, and scale rather than via standardized public rates. Distribution is conducted through direct client engagement, invited architectural competitions, and referrals, and the firm has secured marquee commissions including the ABN Amro Bank headquarters, the ALFA telecom headquarters, the La Cigale Hotel in Doha, and the T52-Grand Park Tower in Kuwait.
Batimat's leadership has remained stable, with founder Assouman Tourbah as Principal and Mohamad M. Arayssi, who joined in 1996, as Partner. The firm reports a headcount of 11–50 employees, operates no proprietary software or AI platform, and discloses no external institutional investment, parent company, or public listing. Its marketing relies on a project-portfolio website, social media presence, and earned media/press coverage of competition wins and construction milestones.
