Westfalischer Turnerbund e.V.

What Westfalischer Turnerbund e.V. does

Westfälischer Turnerbund e.V. (WTB) is the regional gymnastics and sports federation for Westphalia, headquartered in Hamm, Germany, and registered as a non-profit association (eingetragener Verein, Vereinsregister-Nr. 609) under German law. The organization is affiliated with the Deutscher Turner-Bund (DTB) under the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) framework and represents the institutional backbone for gymnastics and adjacent sport disciplines across the Westphalia region, serving roughly 1,000 affiliated member clubs organized into regional Turngaue chapters, the licensed coaches and instructors who train and certify through the organization, and schools in the Arnsberg, Münster, and Detmold districts.

WTB's operational scope spans gymnastics disciplines (apparatus, trampoline, rhythmic gymnastics, Rhönrad), a broader GYMWELT portfolio (fitness, health, nature, dance, and movement arts), competition organization (Westphalian championships and pathways to national events), and coach education and licensing delivered through the DTB-Akademie framework. The organization directly operates the Landesturnschule Oberwerries, a state sports school housed in the Schloss Oberwerries in Hamm, providing training halls, seminar rooms, accommodation, and event hosting infrastructure. Digital touchpoints include the GYMNET events platform for course registration (third-party DTB infrastructure), the Akademie des Turnens for remote professional development, and a Rapidmail-distributed newsletter.

Revenue mechanics are anchored in three streams: recurrent membership dues from affiliated clubs and individual members (Mitgliedsbeiträge), fees from education and certification courses (Aus- und Fortbildungen, webinars, and licensing renewals), and facility/event revenue from the Landesturnschule. Pricing is not publicly disclosed, and pricing models are not enumerated. WTB operates with a small administrative headcount of 11-50 employees and is member-democratically governed by its Präsidium and Hauptausschuss, with no disclosed venture, private equity, or parent-company ownership. No revenue is publicly disclosed; observable scale signals come from facility footprint, membership scale, and education-program throughput.
