What Drone Dudes does

Drone Dudes is a private aerial cinematography firm founded in 2010 and headquartered in Granada Hills, California, providing professional drone-based filming services to Hollywood film studios, premium television series, commercial advertisers, and live-event productions. Its service portfolio centers on five specialized platform offerings: the ALTA X heavy-lift system (capable of carrying full-frame cinema cameras and high-output lighting rigs), the Inspire 3 (an 8K full-frame agile platform), a range of FPV drones from heavy-lift to ultra-nimble systems, the RadCam ground-level stabilized high-speed platform, and custom drone design-and-build services for brand activations and unique visual requirements. The company operates with an FAA-certified crew and is documented as NDAA-compliant with DIU Blue Systems availability, positioning it for both entertainment and government/restricted-environment work.

The business runs on a project-based, quote-driven pricing model with no public rate card, generating revenue through direct engagement with studios, streamers, broadcast networks, and advertising agencies. Named enterprise clients include Disney, Netflix, HBO, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, MGM, Apple, ESPN, NBC, CBS, Fox, Hulu, BBDO, and Wieden+Kennedy. Customer acquisition is reputation-driven: a showreel and project gallery of Hollywood film credits, paired with testimonials from ASC-member cinematographers (Wally Pfister, Kramer Morgenthau, John Conroy, Eric Saarinen, Thomas Ackerman), function as the primary demand-generation mechanism. Notable technical achievements include flying a Sony VENICE cinema camera on a custom rig and deploying a drone with four parabolic 100-watt LED emitters producing 52,000 lumens of 5,500K light for a night-shoot over Malibu waters. Leadership consists of Founder and Aerial DP Andrew Petersen, Managing Partner Cynthia Petersen, and Executive Producer Marthinus Lamprecht. The firm operates with a 1-10 employee footprint and has not disclosed external funding, M&A activity, or revenue figures in the available materials.
