Clube dos Galitos

What Clube dos Galitos does

Clube dos Galitos is a private non-profit sports and cultural association founded on January 25, 1904 in Aveiro, Portugal, governed by elected member bodies (Direção, Assembleia Geral, Conselho Fiscal) headed by President António Granjeia. The club operates a multi-section platform model spanning eight sports disciplines — rowing, basketball, swimming, chess, cycling, triathlon, padel, and fencing — alongside three cultural/recreational sections (philately/numismatics, photography, camping). It serves youth through masters athletes as well as culturally engaged community members in the Aveiro region, with a documented alumni base of 20,000+ students from its swimming school programs and recognition as an Olympic-heritage institution (rowers in 1948 and 1952, swimmer Diogo Carvalho across 2008/2012/2016).

The club's product surface is delivered through owned physical infrastructure: the Piscina do Galitos (managed since 2004, offering lessons, hydrogymnastics, masters swimming, and open swimming), the Pavilhão dos Galitos (400-seat basketball pavilion with gym, physiotherapy, and six changing rooms), and two nautical posts for rowing training. Supporting services include an online registration platform (outsourced to cs.corporatesports.pt), downloadable enrollment forms, downloadable member communication via email, and section-specific Facebook pages plus YouTube and blog channels. The club's revenue model is subscription-based membership (minimum quota €1.00/month, fencing €20/month), supplemented by corporate sponsorship (Bresimar for swimming, Grupel for chess, OLI/226ERS for triathlon), municipal support from Câmara Municipal de Aveiro, federation grants, and merchandise sales (lithographs, commemorative medals). Pricing for most sports sections is not publicly disclosed.
