Descriptiontext

The Ministry of Health Trinidad and Tobago is the national government ministry, established in 1962, responsible for setting health policy, regulating food and drugs, and coordinating public health services across Trinidad and Tobago. Headquartered in Port of Spain and operating with a workforce of 5,001–10,000 employees, it administers the country's Regional Health Authorities and the public hospital network (including Scarborough General Hospital), delivering services free at point of care funded through government taxation and international development partnerships. The Ministry is not a commercial entity and does not generate revenue in the traditional sense; its operating budget is sourced from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago alongside grants from PAHO/WHO, the US Government (CDC/PEPFAR), the India-UN Development Partnership Fund, and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The Ministry is executing a multi-pronged digital health modernization program spanning a digital Learning Management System for healthcare worker training, a digital perinatal records system (SIP/SIP Plus) standardizing maternal and newborn care nationwide, all-in-one telehealth kits with vital-sign monitors and ECG units for rural outreach, solar-powered vaccine refrigerators providing cold-chain resilience, ultraviolet disinfecting robots (including 'Roberta') that reduce room disinfection time from 12 hours to minutes, and a Digital Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system incorporating ICD-11 adoption. Underlying technology spans centralized digital training infrastructure, mobile telehealth form factors, IoT-enabled cold-chain hardware, robotic UV disinfection, and interagency digital records architecture.

The Ministry's go-to-market is direct public-sector delivery: it acts simultaneously as policy-maker, regulator, operator, and (in effect) sole customer of its own services. Distribution occurs through government-run hospitals, health centres, and clinics, with telehealth extending reach into rural communities. Its customer base is entirely internal — Regional Health Authorities, public hospitals, healthcare workers, and citizens — yielding a single-tenant concentration profile with no commercial diversification. Distribution channels and customer segments are organized hybrid across personas (healthcare workers), business units (Regional Health Authorities), geographies (rural communities), and use cases (maternal/newborn care).
