Associação De Futebol De Viseu

What Associação De Futebol De Viseu does

Associação de Futebol de Viseu (AF Viseu) is a Portuguese nonprofit regional sports association founded on October 15, 1926, originally as Federação Desportiva de Viseu. It serves as the sole district-level governing body for football and futsal in the Viseu district and is affiliated with the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF). Its operations are regulatory and administrative rather than commercial: it organizes district competitions across three senior divisions (Divisão de Honra, 1ª Divisão, 2ª Divisão) plus eight youth age categories (Sub-23 through Sub-10) and futsal leagues, manages referee appointments through its Conselho de Arbitragem, delivers UEFA-licensed coach training (UEFA C and B levels for football and futsal), and provides district team selections for national-level participation. Revenue derives from club affiliation fees, competition registration fees, training course fees, and government subsidies; financials are not publicly disclosed.

The association employs 33 people at its headquarters at Avenida José Relvas in Viseu, inaugurated in 1998 at the Parque Desportivo do Fontelo. It is governed by an elected Direção under President José Carlos Amaral Lopes (the 30th president, in office since August 1, 2020), currently serving the 2024/2025–2027/2028 quadriennium. AF Viseu maintains institutional partnerships with neighboring district association AF Vila Real (joint coaching courses), municipalities such as Armamar (Futsal Talks), the IPDJ for public sports infrastructure access, and social-inclusion organizations for street football initiatives. It has no technology platform, no AI capabilities, and operates a traditional association website (afviseu.fpf.pt) for news, official documents, and competition information.
