Friends of Foothills Animal Shelter

What Friends of Foothills Animal Shelter does

Friends of Foothills Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization founded in 1976 and based in Golden, Colorado, that raises direct funds to support an animal shelter and its mission of improving lives for people and pets. The organization functions as the fundraising vehicle for the shelter, channeling donations toward animal care, adoption services, and related community programs serving the local Golden-area pet-owning and pet-adopting public.

The business model is that of a traditional community animal welfare nonprofit: revenue is generated through donations, grants, and adoption-related fees rather than commercial product sales. The organization employs between 11 and 50 staff, consistent with a mid-sized single-location shelter operation. Its primary 'customers' are individual donors, adopters, and institutional funders; the only documented institutional funding event in the available data is a $3,000 grant from Maddie's Fund recorded on 2022-09-06. The organization's web presence (foothillsanimalshelter.org) serves as the primary donor and adoption intake channel.
