Expansion highlights4 records

Direct peers

• United Nations University (UNU): The UN's own academic arm, formally chartered by the UN General Assembly, offering postgraduate programmes and research on global issues including peace, sustainability, and governance. Directly comparable as an international university serving UN-aligned missions and diplomats, with the contrast of full UN affiliation vs AUGP's independent inspiration.
• University for Peace (UPEACE): UN-mandated university in Costa Rica focused on peace and conflict studies, offering Master's and Doctoral programmes in international peace and governance. Most direct peer in the peace/diplomacy higher education niche that AUGP occupies.
• School of Diplomacy and International Relations (Seton Hall University): Graduate school at Seton Hall University offering Master's and Doctoral programmes in diplomacy and international relations with UN simulation components. Comparable academic offering to AUGP's Master's in International Relations and Diplomacy.
• Soka University of America: Private US liberal arts university founded on Buddhist peace principles with a strong emphasis on peace studies, international relations, and human rights. Comparable philosophy-driven peace-focused institution serving a globally diverse student body.
• Schiller International University: Private multi-campus international university with locations across Europe and the US, offering programmes in international relations and diplomacy with blended learning. Most direct operational comparable in the small multi-campus private international university segment.
• Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations: Private Swiss institution offering BA, MA, and executive programmes in international relations and diplomacy, including UN-focused curriculum. Comparable niche private competitor in the diplomacy higher education segment.

Emerging players

• International Peace Institute (IPI): Independent non-profit working with the UN on policy research, training, and capacity building for conflict prevention and sustainable peace. Comparable mission and target audience (diplomats, peace practitioners) but operates as a policy institute rather than degree-granting institution.

Broad incumbents

• SOAS University of London: Established UK university specializing in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East with deep programmes in international relations, development, and diplomacy. Larger and broader incumbent in the international/area studies space that competes for the same diplomat/NGO student segment.
• American University of Beirut: Established private university with prominent programmes in international relations, diplomacy, and conflict resolution across the MENA region. Broader incumbent targeting a similar Middle East/Africa diplomat and policy student segment.
• Webster University (Webster Vienna/Geneva/etc.): US private university operating an extensive international campus network (Vienna, Geneva, Leiden, etc.) offering IR and international business programmes. Comparable multi-campus international delivery model targeting globally mobile students.
