AZ Architecture SARL

What AZ Architecture SARL does

AZ Architecture SARL (trading as AZ Architectes) is a Rouen-based French architectural firm founded in 2004 that provides comprehensive design, programming, and project management services for public and private construction and renovation projects. The firm operates across seven service categories — Équipements (public facilities), Enseignement (educational buildings), Santé (healthcare facilities), Logements (residential housing), Tertiaire (commercial offices), Restructurations (heavy building renovation), and Études (feasibility studies) — covering new construction as well as complex heritage and industrial conversions.

The firm is staffed by approximately 12–15 professionals with multidisciplinary expertise, and is co-led by associé Laurent Bérenger. There is no proprietary technology platform; service delivery rests on conventional architectural design tools and project supervision processes. Revenue is generated through professional service fees negotiated per commission, sourced primarily via French public procurement competitions (concours) and direct private developer mandates. Customer activity spans public institutions (CHU Rouen Normandie, Centre Hospitalier de Dieppe, Université de Rouen, Université de Picardie Jules Verne, Région Normandie, SDIS, municipalities), healthcare operators (ORPEA, Logéal pour la Mutualité Française), and real estate developers (LINKCITY, Bouygues Bâtiment Grand Ouest, LOGEO, Normandie Habitat), with Johnson & Johnson listed as a corporate client.

Geographically, the firm is anchored in Normandy (Rouen, Dieppe, Le Havre, surrounding areas) with limited extension into Picardie (Amiens). The firm has formed consortium-style co-architecture partnerships with firms such as TVK Architectes, Basalt Architectes, OLM paysagiste, DCCP Architectes, and others to deliver larger mixed-use and institutional projects, including the Quartier Flaubert urban development in Rouen and the Bibliothèque Universitaire reconstruction at Campus Mont-Saint Aignan. The business is privately held under the SARL legal form with no disclosed external investment or parent company.
