Carrickmines Croquet & Lawn Tennis Club

What Carrickmines Croquet & Lawn Tennis Club does

Carrickmines Croquet & Lawn Tennis Club is a member-owned private sports club founded in 1903 in Carrickmines, South County Dublin, Ireland. It operates a single site on Glenamuck Road North (adjacent to the Carrickmines LUAS stop and Exit 15 on the M50) with 7 synthetic grass tennis courts, 3 indoor acrylic courts, up to 8 grass courts in summer, 4 croquet lawns, a fully equipped gym, Pilates classes, bridge sessions, bowls, and a Thursday dining and bar service from a clubhouse renovated in 2013.

The club serves individual members and their guests across tennis, croquet, bridge, bowls, and social segments, with a particular emphasis on competitive play. It has hosted the County Dublin Championships annually since 1908 (with war- and pandemic-related gaps), the European Association Croquet Championship in 2024, and the international Carrickmines Cup U12 as part of the Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC) association. Junior development is structured through the KPMG-sponsored Carrickmines Junior Tour (Tour 100/200/1000) and Tennis 10s. Governance is by an elected committee (President, Vice President, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Tennis and Croquet Directors, Captains, Trustees) and the club has been member-owned since 1959.

The business model is subscription-based, anchored by annual membership fees across multiple member categories, supplemented by visitor green fees (adult €5, junior €2), tournament entry fees, bar and dining revenue, and club merchandise. The technology stack is non-proprietary, comprising ClubManager365 for tennis-court booking, Skedda for croquet-lawn scheduling, and TournamentSoftware.com for tournament management. Marketing and member acquisition rely on the club website, direct communications, open tournaments, and local-event sponsorships with KPMG, Hunters Estate Agent, and Sherry FitzGerald.
