Fundación de Comercio de Bizkaia

What Fundación de Comercio de Bizkaia does

Fundación de Comercio de Bizkaia (legally CONFEDERACIÓN EMPRESARIAL DE COMERCIO DE BIZKAIA / BIZKAIKO MERKATARTIZAKO EMPRESARI KONFEDERAZIOA, operating as CECOBI) is a non-profit trade confederation (C.I.F. G-48.271.886) headquartered in Bilbao, Spain, constituted to represent and defend wholesale and retail commerce businesses in the Historical Territory of Bizkaia. The confederation is composed of multiple guild associations (asociaciones gremiales) covering specific trades such as food, footwear, electrodomestics, metal, furniture, cleaning products, and personal image services, alongside zonal associations (asociaciones zonales) covering geographic areas across Bizkaia including Santurtzi, Rekalde, Deusto, Algorta, Barakaldo, Muskiz, Trapagarán, Zalla, and Gernika.

CECOBI's operational core is the CECOBILAN web platform (cecobilan.es), which unifies four service modules: a job exchange (Bolsa de Empleo) connecting job seekers with member commerce businesses, a training exchange (Bolsa de Formación) for vocational and professional development courses, an associations directory spanning both guild and zonal associations, and a business transmission service (Transmisión de Empresas) for commerce-business succession. The platform also integrates externally with LANBIDE (the Basque public employment service) for course enrollment redirection, with Hobetuz for training delivery, and with the external Transmisión de Empresas website for entrepreneurship listings. Technology is conventional: a bilingual (Spanish/Basque) web portal with Google Analytics instrumentation and standard web-based forms, operating without AI/ML features, public APIs, or mobile applications.

The business model is non-commercial: services are provided free of charge to member businesses and job seekers. Revenue, if any, derives from membership dues paid by directly associated companies (those paying quota to CECOBI rather than to a zonal association) and from the confederation's representational activities including collective bargaining agreement negotiation. No funding rounds, parent company, external investors, or commercial pricing are present in the source material. CECOBI operates as a federated institution with member associations maintaining their own Facebook presence for local commerce promotion, while CECOBI's central contact is via [email protected] and phone 94 400 28 00.
