CEP Cortaillod

What CEP Cortaillod does

CEP Cortaillod (Centre d'Education Physique Cortaillod) is a non-profit community sports association founded in 1971 and based in Cortaillod, Neuchâtel canton, Switzerland. The club operates multiple sports sections under a unified membership structure, including Athletics (with age-group training from U8 through Elite), Running, Top Gym (fitness combining muscular strengthening and cardio), Special Olympics (adapted athletics for athletes with disabilities), and Volley Loisirs (recreational volleyball). It serves a local demographic ranging from children aged 8+ through adult and elite athletes, plus inclusive programs for people with disabilities, drawing participants primarily from Cortaillod and the broader Neuchâtel region.

The club's core offerings are structured training programs delivered by section responsables and coaches at local venues including Stade du Littoral in Colombier, Salle Cort'Agora, and Collège des Esserts in Boudry. Its business model relies on annual member subscriptions (cotisations, governed by a 2026 fee regulation document) and event revenues. The club organizes two flagship competitive events: the Coupe du Vignoble, a four-leg cross-country and Nordic walking series currently in its 47th edition (2025-2026), and the Semi du CEP, a half-marathon plus 10km race currently in its 31st edition (2026). Athletes aged U18+ obtain licenses through the club's affiliation with Swiss Athletics, the national athletics federation, and race registration/results are managed via the MSO Swiss platform.

The organization is volunteer-led by a committee headed by President Patrick Bachmann, supported by 5 paid employees, and funded through membership fees, event entry fees, and local sponsorships (BCN, Garage Robert, Voyages Favre). No external investors, parent company, or funding rounds are indicated. Marketing is conducted primarily through the cepcortaillod.ch website and the @cep_cortaillod Instagram account, with growth driven by community word-of-mouth and the visibility generated by its long-running event portfolio.
