Colegiul Național "Traian"

What Colegiul Național "Traian" does

Colegiul Național "Traian" is a public national college (liceu) located in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Mehedinți County, Romania, operating under the Romanian Ministry of Education's national public education system. Established circa 1881, the institution provides secondary education from Class V (gymnasium entry) through Class XII (Baccalaureate completion), serving students approximately 10 to 18 years old, including those preparing for national olympiads and university entrance. The school offers theoretical specializations (mathematics-informatics, natural sciences) and philological tracks with intensive foreign language instruction, alongside selective admission testing for Class V entry.

The institution's core academic delivery is augmented by several differentiated programs and assets: an authorized Cambridge English Examination Center and ICDL Testing Center providing internationally recognized certifications; a SmartLab technology-enhanced learning laboratory initiative completed in late 2025; FIRST LEGO League robotics teams (Traian Lego Robo Team and The Emperor) with international programming awards; and student publications including Revista Columna and the recently launched Revista SmartEdu. The school hosts national olympiads (Slavic Mother Tongue Languages 2025, Mathematics 2026, Biology 2026), runs the annual "Logica si Creativitate" interdisciplinary competition for primary students, and participates in Erasmus+ international exchange programs. Headcount stands at approximately 61 employees.

The business model is non-commercial: as a public state educational institution, tuition is funded by the Romanian Ministry of Education with no traditional revenue mechanics. Income derives from government education budgets, with ancillary fee-based services including Cambridge English and ICDL certification exam fees. Student acquisition occurs through competitive entrance examinations for Class V and the national liceu admission system for Class IX. The school is governed under Romanian educational regulations and serves the Drobeta-Turnu Severin and broader Mehedinți County region, with no parent company, private investors, or commercial ownership structure.
