Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California

What Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California does

Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California is a religious nonprofit Buddhist retreat center located in the forested mountains of Northern California (Leggett, CA, mailing address PO Box 162). It was founded by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche as a Shedrub Mandala Center dedicated to the study and practice of the Chokling Tersar lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The center serves two practitioner segments — new students seeking an introduction to Buddhist teachings and meditation, and long-time practitioners pursuing advanced Vajrayana study and intensive practice — and offers a curriculum spanning foundational Buddha teachings, Mahayana teachings on emptiness and compassion, and Vajrayana instructions.

The center's product surface is entirely in-person and place-based: scheduled group retreat programs, private individual retreats in remote accommodations, and a specialized Support for Death & Dying service. An external online Dharma materials shop (ratnashop.us) extends the offering beyond on-site programming. There is no proprietary technology platform, no digital product, no mobile app, and no API; the center maintains a website and mailing list primarily for information distribution and community communication.

The business model is a hybrid of retreat and program fees from participants plus voluntary donations and prayer request offerings from supporters. The go-to-market is community-led — word-of-mouth, referrals through Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's teaching network, and connections to other Buddhist centers — with no evidence of paid marketing or formal sales infrastructure. Financial data is not publicly disclosed: no revenue figures, headcount, or funding rounds are reported. The center operates as an independent entity with no parent company, no disclosed subsidiaries, and no external investment ownership.
