Highland Baptist Church - Knoxville, TN

What Highland Baptist Church - Knoxville, TN does

Highland Baptist Church is an independent, missionary Baptist church established in 1942 in the Highland Homesites community of Knox County, Tennessee, operating continuously from its campus at 6014 Babelay Road, Knoxville, TN 37924. It serves local residents of the Babelay Road community and surrounding areas of East Knoxville through traditional worship services (Sunday School at 9:30 AM, Morning Worship at 10:30 AM, Evening Worship at 6:00 PM, and Wednesday evening worship at 7:00 PM), Sunday School education, a music ministry using the red-back Church Hymnal and Inspiration Hymnal, baptism and communion, pastoral care, and a world-wide missions program providing monthly support to missionaries globally.

The church's technical footprint is modest and consumer-grade: live streaming of services via Facebook, a YouTube channel for archived sermons and music, a radio ministry launched in 2019 reaching thousands of daily listeners, and an official website at hbcknox.org. The only notable facility expansion was a state-of-the-art Prophet's Chamber built in the basement in 2019 to host missionaries and traveling ministers. The organization explicitly uses only the Authorized King James Version of the Bible and adopted its independent Baptist identity (free of denominational affiliation) following a member vote on June 3, 2009.

The business model is a traditional donation-based religious organization: all participation is free, and operating revenue derives from voluntary tithes and offerings from congregation members. There are no products, services, or pricing tiers for sale. The church is led by Pastor Kevin Roberts, elected July 19, 2020, and is governed by its congregation with no parent company, institutional investors, or external capital relationships. No revenue figures, payroll, or financial disclosures are publicly available.
