Nyingma Centrum Nederland

What Nyingma Centrum Nederland does

Nyingma Centrum Nederland (legal name: Stichting Nyingma Centrum Nederland) is a non-profit Buddhist spiritual education foundation headquartered at Reguliersgracht 25, Amsterdam. It operates as the Dutch branch of the global Nyingma network founded by Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku and delivers structured programs across eight study fields: Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness, Buddhist Study and Practice, Classical Tibetan Language and Literature, Caring, Skillful Means, Self-knowledge, and Sacred Art. The center serves adults seeking personal development, stress reduction, and authentic Tibetan Buddhist teachings, alongside dedicated programs for experienced meditators, Tibetan language learners, and corporate clients through an in-company offering.

The organization runs a hybrid in-person and online model. Courses, workshops, and the €25/month Dagstart online subscription are delivered via Zoom globally, while retreats are hosted at the World Peace Stupa Retreat Center in Winterswijk and the Neu Plaue Retreat Center near Berlin. Revenue is generated primarily through course fees (€55–€675 across multi-week courses and year-long training programs), retreat fees (€295–€995 for residential programs), the recurring Dagstart subscription, and donations supporting community projects including the Clay Stupa, Tsatsa, Tibetan Aid, Yeshe De Text Preservation, and international prayer flag projects. The center employs a small core team of 7 and an extended teaching bench of certified Kum Nye trainers and visiting senior instructors drawn from the Nyingma Institute Berkeley and partner centers.

The operating perimeter spans Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Winterswijk, Germany, and a global online audience, with documented partnerships across the Nyingma mandala (Nyingma Institute Berkeley, Mangalam Research Center, Center for Creative Inquiry, Nyingma Zentrum Deutschland, Odiyan Retreat Center, Dharma Publishing, and Lotus Design Winkel). There is no publicly disclosed revenue, no external funding, and no evidence of M&A, restructuring, or strategic transactions. The organization is currently operating and expanding its program catalog and online reach while maintaining a donation- and tuition-supported cost base.
