Oosterhof Electrical Services Ltd

What Oosterhof Electrical Services Ltd does

Oosterhof Electrical Services Ltd is a family-owned and operated licensed electrical contracting business headquartered in Kingston, Ontario, founded in 1991 and operating continuously for more than 35 years. The company delivers electrical installation, maintenance, and safety services across residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Eastern Ontario, with a service corridor stretching from Belleville to Brockville and including communities such as Gananoque, Amherstview, Bath, Napanee, South Frontenac, Wolfe Island, and Inverary. Core offerings include new wiring, renovations, panel upgrades, lighting systems, EV charger installation, smart-home integration (Lutron), standby generators (Kohler), and a Fire and Life Safety line covering alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, and integrated security systems. The business is differentiated by its long-held Pre-Authorized Contractor status with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), CFAA-certified fire alarm technicians, Lutron Pros registration, Kohler authorized dealer status, and adherence to CAN/ULC S536 and NFPA codes.

The company operates a direct-to-consumer, field-service model with licensed electricians dispatched from its Kingston headquarters to customer locations. Revenue is generated through hourly-billed professional services labor, hardware pass-through (generators, EV chargers, fire safety equipment), recurring generator and fire alarm maintenance agreements, and financed projects via a partnership with FinanceIt. Pricing is quote-based with free estimates and no public rate disclosure. Customer acquisition is driven primarily by word-of-mouth referrals, Google reviews, an active Instagram presence, and a content-marketing website, with a Salesforce-integrated Generator Service Portal handling recurring service requests.

The firm is privately held with 6 employees, no institutional investors, no parent company, and no disclosed revenue. It maintains active membership in the Ontario Electrical League and the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce, and supports local schools and charities. The operating posture is that of a stable, mature small business that has incrementally expanded its service mix into EV-readiness, smart-home, and life-safety categories while preserving its regional, reputation-driven go-to-market approach.
