Riverside Adult School

What Riverside Adult School does

Riverside Adult School is a public adult education institution operated by Riverside Unified School District in Riverside, California. It serves adult learners who need to complete their high school diploma, prepare for the GED, learn English as a second language, or acquire entry-level vocational skills for the workforce. The school's stated mission is to equip students with the skills necessary to enter post-secondary education or the workforce, with scheduling designed to accommodate adults balancing work and family obligations.

The school's program portfolio is organized into three buckets: core academic programs (ESL, GED Preparation, High School Diploma Completion), career education programs (Automotive Repair, Pharmacy Tech, and an RUSD Nutrition & Custodial Sub Preparation program tied to in-district substitute employment), and support services (RCC Educational Advisors facilitating transitions to Riverside Community College). Delivery relies on a stack of third-party educational technology platforms — Aztec, Burlington English, the Connexus/Pearson learning management system, the ELLI ESL Library, and GED.com — integrated through the district's communications and registration infrastructure, including ParentSquare for family outreach.

As a department of a government-state entity, Riverside Adult School is funded through public education budgets and governed by the Riverside Unified School District Board of Education. It does not charge tuition in the manner of a commercial provider, and revenue, headcount, and detailed financial metrics are not publicly disclosed. The school is actively operating and currently accepting registrations for the 2026-2027 school year.
