RCMP Curling Club

What RCMP Curling Club does

RCMP Curling Club is a private, member-operated 4-sheet curling facility located at 115 St. Laurent Blvd. in Ottawa, Ontario, situated beside the R.C.M.P. Musical Ride stables. Despite the institutional name and physical adjacency to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the club operates as an independent membership organization open to the general public, with the website explicitly stating that RCMP employment is not a prerequisite for membership. The facility's primary function is delivering organized league curling across recreational and competitive levels.

The club's core product is its league program, spanning 15+ named leagues across weekday evenings, weekends, and daytime slots — including Open Monday Night, Men's Tuesday Evening, Ladies Wednesday Evening, Men's Thursday Evening, Friday U5, Learn to Curl (beginner onboarding), Senior Drawn Open, Senior Fixed Open, Day Ladies Thursday, Saturday Mixed, Sunday Mixed, and youth tiers (U15, U18, Little Rocks). Complementary offerings include hourly/per-game ice rentals and lounge/meeting facility rentals for corporate functions, business meetings, parties, and weddings. The website is built on the third-party 'Curling Manager' platform; no proprietary technology stack or AI capability is in evidence. Operational hours run Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00, with weekend closure of the office.

Revenue is generated through four streams: annual adult and youth membership subscriptions, hourly ice rental fees, one-time facility/lounge rental fees for events, and corporate sponsorship (visible sponsor: Fundytus Realestate). Pricing is not publicly disclosed on the website. The club is governed by an executive team including a President/Manager, and its contact channels are [email protected] and 613-749-7086. Distribution is direct-to-consumer via the physical Ottawa facility, with discovery aided by reciprocal link partnerships with Curling Canada, Curl ON, OVCA, Ottawa Curling News, Ontario Curling Tour, OJCT, LCA, and OCC.

Broad incumbents

• Curling Canada: National governing body for curling in Canada. Not a direct competitor but the umbrella organization that all community curling clubs (including RCMP Curling Club) affiliate with for rules, events, and member pathways.
• Canlan Ice Sports Corp: Multi-facility operator of ice rinks and sports complexes across North America. Comparable on ice-facility operations, league scheduling, and rental/event revenue, though at much larger scale and broader sport mix than a community curling club.

Direct peers

• Ottawa Curling Club: Another community curling club in Ottawa offering league play, lessons, and rentals. Directly comparable on customer base (Ottawa-area curlers), product (sheet rentals, leagues, Learn-to-Curl), and revenue model (memberships, ice rentals, events).
• Nepean Curling Club: Ottawa-area curling club offering adult leagues, youth programs, and ice rentals. Directly comparable in scale, member structure, and facility-based revenue model.
• Rideau Curling Club: Ottawa-based curling club with comparable league structures, youth programming, and event rental offerings. Competes for the same members, ice-rental customers, and Learn-to-Curl participants in the same local market.
• Granite Curling Club (Ottawa): Historic Ottawa curling club operating league play, instruction, and rentals. Similar product/market overlap and revenue mix to RCMP Curling Club.
