TV Cidade - RecordTv

What TV Cidade - RecordTv does

TV Cidade - RecordTv (legal name: TV Cidade / Record MA), founded in 1981 and headquartered in São Luís, Maranhão, is a regional Brazilian television station and digital news portal operating under the 'TV Cidade | RECORD' brand. It is the local affiliate (afiliada) of Rede Record de Televisão (Record TV Network), one of Brazil's largest broadcast networks, and broadcasts Record network programming alongside locally produced news content including 'Jornal da Cidade' (weekdays at 19h20), 'Balanço Geral MA' (weekdays at 11h30), and 'Qual é a Bronca?' (07h00). Coverage extends across all 217 municipalities of Maranhão state via over-the-air broadcast and the SuaCidade.com digital news portal.

The company's product portfolio centers on the SuaCidade news portal organized into 10 editorial categories (Maranhão, São Luís, Cidades, Política, Polícia, Economia, Esportes, Entretenimento, Brasil, Mundo, Vídeos). Beyond news, the platform has expanded into utility/data services through Central de Utilidades (financial indicators, fuel prices, climate, health, education, government transparency), Minha Cidade (localized dashboards for 217 municipalities), Ranking dos Municípios (5-indicator municipal comparison), 10 financial calculators, and Quem Representa o Maranhão (directory of elected officials). Election 2026 coverage is delivered through a dedicated hub including candidate sabatinas and a gubernatorial debate scheduled for September 21, 2026. Distribution extends across YouTube (@tvcidadema), Instagram (@tvcidade.ma), and a WhatsApp tip line for viewer-submitted news.

The business model is advertising-driven, with television advertising and program sponsorships (notably around 'Jornal da Cidade' and 'Balanço Geral MA') constituting the primary revenue stream; digital advertising on SuaCidade.com supplements this. Pricing is not publicly disclosed. The company employs 139 people and operates as a privately held regional broadcaster with no disclosed ownership, investor, or capital structure beyond its affiliation/franchise relationship with the Record Group.
