Teatr Variete

What Teatr Variete does

Krakowski Teatr VARIETE (operating as Teatr Variete) is a municipal musical and entertainment theater located at ul. Grzegórzecka 71 in Kraków, Poland. It is positioned as the youngest theatrical stage in Kraków, with a stated mission to deliver entertainment art at standards comparable to Broadway and West End. The theater presents a diversified repertoire spanning licensed Broadway/West End musicals (Chicago, Pretty Woman - The Musical, SIX, RENT), ballet and dance productions via resident company Cracovia Danza, jazz and pop concerts, improvised comedy shows (AD HOC group), and guest productions. Technically, the venue operates a professional multimedia stage infrastructure including Waves SoundGrid audio networking integrated with Yamaha RIVAGE PM, TF, and CL/QL consoles, Stairville LED pixel rail lighting systems controlled via DMX, LED screens, and 3D projection mapping for irregular scenic surfaces.

The company operates as a Polish cultural institution (instytucja kultury) under municipal affiliation with the City of Kraków, with no public stock listing. Its revenue model is multi-stream: primary revenue from ticket sales (individual and group, ranging 35-200 PLN per ticket), venue rental for corporate events and private celebrations, and sponsorship/advertising partnerships (over 200 events created with partners). Distribution is direct through an online ticketing platform, physical box office, and a dedicated group reservation system. The business also pursues recurring co-productions with educational institutions (British International School of Cracow), foundations (Fundacja Hearty via UBS volunteers, Fundacja Edukacyjna Jana Karskiego, Fundacja Ardente Sole), and a professional musical school (House of Art). Leadership includes Managing Director Kamila Polit and Artistic Director Jakub Szydłowski, both installed in 2025. The team comprises approximately 21 employees.
