What Tv Guara does

Record News Maranhão, referenced under the firmographic label Tv Guara, is a regional Brazilian news portal operating as a local affiliate within the Record News network. It is headquartered in São Luís, Maranhão, and produces coverage across politics, sports, culture, and world news for audiences in Northeast Brazil. The entity is private and operates with a small staff of 11-50 employees.

The core product is the Record News Maranhão web portal (recordnewsma.com), supplemented by two branded YouTube programs — HORA NEWS MA and Conexão News — that extend the offering into original video content. Distribution is deliberately multi-channel: in addition to the website, content is distributed through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and WhatsApp, allowing the outlet to meet audiences on each preferred platform.

The business model is not explicitly disclosed in the input. As a regional news affiliate within a larger national network, revenue is most plausibly generated through a combination of network-level advertising arrangements, programmatic ads on owned digital surfaces, and potentially sponsorship of video programming — but no pricing, contract, or monetization figures are available. No AI/ML capabilities, proprietary technology, management team data, funding history, or financial disclosures are provided, which constrains any deeper analytical conclusions about unit economics or growth trajectory.

Regional players

• O Imparcial: Long-running Maranhão-based newspaper with a digital news portal covering local politics and general news; comparable as another regional news outlet competing for the same Maranhão audience, though primarily text-led rather than video-led.
