What Urheiluopisto 3K does

Kolmen kampuksen urheiluopisto oy (Three Campus Sports Institute, operating as Urheiluopisto 3K) is a privately held Finnish limited company formed through the merger of the Pajulahti and Kisakallio sports institutes, with a third campus at Mäkelänrinne in Helsinki operated in partnership with the Urhea Metropolitan Area Sports Academy. It holds Finland's only official Olympic and Paralympic Training Center designation from the Finnish Olympic Committee and Finnish Paralympic Committee, and is the country's largest provider of vocational and liberal adult education in the sports and fitness sector.

The company operates an integrated portfolio across three revenue clusters: vocational education (degrees including Liikunnanohjauksen perustutkinto, Liikunnan ja valmennuksen ammattitutkinto, and Valmennuksen erikoisammattitutkinto, plus apprenticeship and continuing education with continuous enrollment); elite sports services (high-altitude training, performance testing, motor skills development through the TAITO 360 area, recovery center with Neurosonic beds, and the 3,000 m² Susi Training Center serving as the strategic home of the Finnish Basketball Association national teams); and hospitality/leisure operations (sports halls including the 11,000 m² Pajulahti-halli, ice rink, swimming hall, Kamppailuareena combat arena, accommodation, restaurants, beach saunas, and event hosting including the annual Pajulahti Games).

The business model combines recurring education revenue with per-use facility rentals (pay-as-you-go pricing from €4 public swim entry to €551 weekend sauna 3-hour package), subscription-style accommodation, and B2B corporate event sales through a dedicated sales team. Customers span six segments: elite athletes and national teams, sports and fitness students, children and youth, corporate groups, sports teams and clubs, and local leisure visitors. Pricing is unit-based, varies by day-visitor versus overnight-guest status and time of day, and is differentiated across the two primary campuses.
