Descriptiontext

InterAct Therapeutics is a privately held, pre-clinical biotechnology company developing gene therapies that target the tumor microenvironment at metastatic sites. The company is a spinout from UT Southwestern Medical Center, founded in 2025, and headquartered in Dallas, Texas with 1–10 employees. Its lead program, IAT-S2, is a first-in-class AAV8-based gene therapy designed to modulate the liver microenvironment to make it hostile to cancer cells, administered as a single intravenous dose and initially indicated for liver-dominant metastatic breast cancer—an addressable population of approximately 15,000 US patients annually, where median survival post-diagnosis is under three years and no approved therapies specifically target the tumor-liver microenvironment.

The company's discovery engine is its proprietary InterAct Print™ computational platform, which uses patented screening methods to identify gene candidates that disrupt the mechanism by which metastatic cancer cells kill neighboring liver cells to colonize new sites. The platform is positioned as expandable beyond breast cancer to metastases in multiple tumor types, and the company has explicitly stated an intent to "break the legacy gene therapy model" by targeting non-ultra-rare indications with lower dosing and below-traditional pricing.

InterAct is currently pre-revenue with no commercial product, and its revenue mechanics are entirely forward-looking. The company holds an exclusive licensing agreement with UT Southwestern Medical Center for development and commercialization of the platform and gene therapy pipeline, was selected into the Charles River Cell & Gene Therapy Incubator Program, and has completed a successful FDA INTERACT meeting for IAT-S2 with the goal of advancing toward an IND submission. Leadership includes co-founders Dan Hargrove (CEO, JD LLM) and Isaac Chan (CSO, MD/PhD), a Board of Directors member (Claire Aldridge, PhD), and a high-profile advisory board comprising former FDA Commissioner Steve Hahn, former NCI Director Kim Rathmell, MD Anderson's David Hong, and Duke Cancer Institute's Donald McDonnell.
