13 Degrees North Productions

What 13 Degrees North Productions does

13 Degrees North Productions Inc. is a Barbados-headquartered international media production company that delivers film, commercial, photography, and production facilitation services to clients worldwide, with operational reach across nine Caribbean countries (Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Curacao, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Jamaica). The company is structured around six core service lines: (1) film and video production including producing, videography, lighting, editing, post-production sound, ADR, and color correction; (2) production facilitation covering crew sourcing, equipment hire, casting, props, permits, insurance, travel, and customs clearance; (3) location scouting; (4) scripting for commercials, documentaries, screenplays, TV shows, and music videos; (5) remote shooting for clients unable to travel to the Caribbean; and (6) photography spanning fashion, editorial, architecture, commercial, and event categories.

The company runs a wholly-owned equipment rental subsidiary — 13 Degrees North Rentals Inc. — which supplies cameras, lighting (including proprietary Vortex series waterproof wireless lights), and production gear to international productions such as Succession and Netflix's Outer Banks. The team of roughly 1-10 employees includes specialized talent such as gaffers, lighting designers, audio engineers, award-winning photographers, and PADI-qualified underwater videographers, complemented by freelance/local crew networks across the nine operating countries. Affiliate partnerships (notably with Charleston-based lighting company Dark2Darker, developed through Outer Banks Season 3 collaboration) extend technical capability beyond in-house staff.

The business model is project-based professional services: revenue is generated through custom quotes for film, commercial, photography, and facilitation engagements, plus equipment rental fees from the Rentals subsidiary. Pricing is not publicly disclosed. Clients are predominantly enterprise and institutional — including Netflix, Vogue, PrettyLittleThing, Royal Caribbean, Sandals Resort, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., the Inter-American Development Bank, Comic Relief, Bravo TV, the British Royal Navy, and IRENA/Green.TV — spanning hospitality, fashion/editorial, streaming TV, government, development finance, and nonprofit verticals. Go-to-market is primarily direct sales to international production companies and brands, supplemented by website portfolio showcasing, blog thought leadership, and event-driven networking at industry festivals and through long-cycle relationship building.
