What Unity on the North Shore does

Unity on the North Shore is a non-profit Unity church headquartered at 3434 Central Street in Evanston, Illinois, operating as part of the New Thought Christian movement under Senior Minister Rev. Kurt Condra. The organization delivers weekly Sunday worship services at 10:30am both in person and via Zoom, and offers a layered program portfolio including SoulFlix (spiritual cinema study), Weekly Book Club, Metaphysical Bible Interpretation, Dances of Universal Peace, Weekly Garden Chat, Ask the Minister sessions, and a Monthly Potluck. It also provides ministerial ceremonies (weddings, baptisms, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, funerals, memorials, celebrations of life) and prayer support with 30-day confidential requests routed to its congregation and Silent Unity. The community positions itself around radical inclusivity, explicitly welcoming LGBTQ+ individuals, those with mental health challenges, skeptics, and people alienated by organized religion.

The church's primary deliverable is community belonging and practical spiritual instruction grounded in Unity teachings (divine nature within all, creative power of thought, affirmative prayer). Content is distributed via a Tithely-hosted website (unityns.org), an active multi-author blog (five posts/month average since 2022), Facebook, Instagram, and Zoom-based programs. There is no proprietary technology stack, mobile app, or AI/ML capability; delivery relies on standard web/Zoom infrastructure.

The business model is a voluntary-donation non-profit. Revenue streams include recurring tithes structured in three named tiers (Explorer $20, Contributor $200, Visionary $500 per cycle), text-to-give mobile contributions, mailed checks, tax-deductible stock transfers via a Morgan Stanley account managed by Patricia Marsh, an annual Lincoln Park Rooftop Soiree fundraiser at $85/ticket, and AmazonSmile affiliate proceeds. Services and most programs (Book Club, SoulFlix, Garden Chat) are free; Dances of Universal Peace accepts voluntary love offerings. The customer base consists of individual congregants and spiritual seekers in the Evanston/North Shore Chicago area, with no enterprise customers, no external investors, no parent organization, and headcount of 1-10 including volunteer-supported program leadership.
