Tähtvere Tantsukeskus

What Tähtvere Tantsukeskus does

Tähtvere Tantsukeskus is a non-profit dance and movement education center operating in Tartu, Estonia since 2010, organized as the legal entity MTÜ Tartu Tantsukool. It delivers structured instruction across multiple disciplines — ballet, contemporary, street dance, Latin, show dance, Zumba, yoga, and Pilates — to children, youth, and adults aged 1 to 75. The center is recognized by Estonia's Ministry of Education and Research as a private hobby school, conferring official status in the local education landscape.

Revenue is generated through a mix of recurring monthly dance school tuition, short-term workshops priced €8–54, gift cards priced €22–35, individual event fees of €3–10, hall rentals, and ancillary services such as birthday parties and seasonal programs. Customer acquisition is community-led, relying on open days, free trial sessions, school partnerships, and seasonal recruitment drives each August/September. The center operates from a single physical location at Laulupeo puiestee 19, Tartu, using multiple dance halls, with online registrations and gift card sales handled through a WordPress/WooCommerce website.

The business has maintained continuous operations since 2010, documented across a 67-page news archive, and has pursued limited ecosystem engagement through a 2021 cultural partnership with Aparaaditehas and recurring charity events for Tartu University Psychiatric Clinic. A Development Plan covering 2025–2030 was published in October 2024, signaling longer-term strategic intent. No headcount, revenue, funding, or geographic expansion data is disclosed; expansion has been limited to incremental product additions such as the "Soolo-lend 2021" dance show and a planned social dance short course in 2026.
