What IDA-VIRUMAA SPORDILIIT does

Ida-Virumaa Spordiliit is a non-profit regional sports federation founded in 1990 and headquartered in Jõhvi, Estonia. It serves as the designated coordinator for sports activities across Ida-Virumaa county, organizing county-level championships (Ida-Virumaa MV) across dozens of disciplines, mass sports games (Rahvaspordimängud), and the Koolisport school sports program covering primary schools and gymnasiums. The federation also runs multiple serial event series including running (Ida-Viru jooksusari), skiing (Ida-Viru Suusaõhtud), cycling (Rattaõhtud), disc golf, and basketball, and coordinates representation of regional athletes at national-level competitions.

The organization operates the sportiv.ee website as its primary technology asset, functioning as a news portal and event calendar serving the regional sports community. The platform publishes news across dozens of sport categories and maintains a recognition/awards archive dating back to 1994. The federation is affiliated with national bodies including the Estonian Sports Union Jõud (Eestimaa Spordiliit Jõud), the Estonian Olympic Committee (EOK), the Estonian School Sports Union (EKSL), and receives policy and funding support from the Ministry of Culture under the Sport 2030 strategy.

Ida-Virumaa Spordiliit is funded primarily through municipal and state support rather than commercial revenue. Its partners include the Ida-Viru County Government, the Estonian Cultural Endowment, and commercial sponsors such as Optibet and Gram Discs. The organization does not disclose financial figures, pricing models, or headcount data. Its services are delivered directly to athletes, clubs, schools, and municipalities across the Ida-Virumaa region, with no commercial distribution channels or third-party resellers.
