About Nature Design Studio Inc.

What About Nature Design Studio Inc. does

Nature Design Studio Inc. is a custom aquarium and living-nature installation firm founded in 2018 and headquartered in West Covina, California, with a regional office in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company designs, fabricates, installs, and maintains nature aquariums ranging from 300 to 3,500+ gallons, alongside paludariums, terrariums, vivariums, outdoor ponds, water features, and cylindrical aquarium configurations. Under founder Mark Chen (20+ years in aquarium creation) and master aqua-scaler Judy Prajitno (25+ years, multiple consecutive IAPLC awards in Japan), the firm delivers biotope-authentic work for high-net-worth residential clients and commercial venues such as hotels, restaurants, and offices.

The studio's technical stack centers on craft aquascaping — including biotope-specific plant and hardscape selection, large-format custom aquarium fabrication, and specialty lighting — supplemented by its own proprietary Skylight Hyperspot lighting product line (retail entry price ~$615) sold through an online store. Conservation partnerships with river explorer Ivan Mikolji and the Freshwater Life Project are integrated into the studio's brand and content strategy.

The business model combines high-value, quote-based custom installation projects with recurring maintenance subscriptions, ongoing consumable supply, and standardized hardware sales. Go-to-market is largely referral-driven and portfolio-led, anchored by signature projects for clients such as Atlas Entertainment (Atlas Literary), Royal Safari Garden, and a private estate replicating the Fontana di Trevi. Pricing is bespoke per project, and the global operations are supported from two locations (California and Jakarta), giving the firm a small but geographically distributed footprint relative to its 1–10 employee count.
