Savant Productions

What Savant Productions does

Savant Productions, Inc. is a privately held, founder-owned music contracting and entertainment payroll company headquartered in Glendale, California. Founded in 1978 by Grammy Award-winning music producer Dan Savant, the company provides music contracting, budgeting, union and non-union payroll administration, studio and engineer booking, music preparation, orchestration coordination, composer/arranger referrals, and equipment rental services to film, television, streaming, video game, and theme park productions. It operates as a signatory paymaster with the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) and SAG-AFTRA, administering talent payments, union benefits, employer taxes, workers' compensation, and required filings for productions including Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Fox, Paramount, Square Enix, Valve, Electronic Arts, and Wizards of the Coast projects.

The business runs on a B2B professional services model with project-based, quote-driven pricing tailored to each production's scope and complexity. Go-to-market is sales-led and relies on industry reputation, direct relationships with producers, composers, and production executives, and referrals within the entertainment production community rather than formal marketing or sales operations. Operationally, the company maintains a small team (1-10 employees) and a multi-geography footprint spanning Los Angeles, London, Nashville, Scotland, and Shanghai to support international recording work. Distribution is handled through direct engagement via email, phone, and a referral network, with a company website and Facebook presence serving primarily as portfolio showcases.

Beyond core services, the company has managed and booked Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, a Grammy Award-winning big band of Hollywood session musicians, for over 25 years. The company has no disclosed subsidiaries, funding rounds, institutional investors, patents, or proprietary technology products, and operates as a stable, founder-controlled enterprise rather than a venture-backed growth company. Its economic engine rests on three professional services revenue streams: music contracting fees, entertainment payroll administration, and ancillary production support services.
