What Itsrainingraincoats Ltd. does

ItsRainingRaincoats Ltd. (also DBA "IRR") is a Singapore-registered charity and company limited by guarantee incorporated under ACRA (UEN 202040087Z) and registered under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY). Founded in 2015 by Dipa Swaminathan, the organization is purpose-built to improve the welfare of male migrant workers on Work Permits in Singapore and to foster their integration with the broader Singapore community. It is headquartered in Singapore and operates with a 1-10 employee core, relying heavily on a volunteer base drawn from individuals, students, educational institutions, and corporate partners.

The organization delivers its mission through a portfolio of free programs. The flagship is inspIRRe, Singapore's first free store for migrant workers, located at 217 Henderson Road, where beneficiaries collect essential items (clothing, toiletries, bags, snacks, electronics) at no cost by confirmed booking. Complementary programs include free dental and vision care, airport transfer services, bicycle provision for workers in remote dormitory areas, laptop loans for those enrolled in higher education, luggage provision for home leave, MADWISH English classes, and free guided excursions to Gardens by the Bay and Mandai Zoo. The NextGen program engages schools and youth, while a formal Corporate CSR channel offers structured donation drives, workshops, and the Makan with Migrant Workers experience to corporate partners.

ItsRainingRaincoats generates no commercial revenue; all services are provided free to beneficiaries. Operating funds are sourced from public monetary donations (notably via giving.sg), in-kind goods for the inspIRRe store, and corporate CSR contributions, with CAF America International Validated Organization approval enabling tax-efficient donations from US donors. The organization is recognized through Dipa Swaminathan's President's Award for Volunteerism and/or Philanthropy (Kampong Spirit) and has been featured in The Straits Times, CNA Lifestyle, and Mothership. As of 2025, IRR is operating and celebrating its tenth anniversary of service.
