Helldivers Wiki

What Helldivers Wiki does

Helldivers Wiki is one of over 800 community wikis hosted on wiki.gg, a private MediaWiki-based hosting platform that has been operating for more than a decade. The platform provides infrastructure for creating and maintaining collaborative encyclopedic resources centered on entertainment franchises, with gaming as its primary vertical alongside movies, web serials, TV shows, book series, open-source projects, and general interest topics. Core products include the wiki hosting platform itself, a browsable directory of 800+ hosted wikis, and the wiki.gg redirector browser extension distributed across Chrome, Firefox, and Edge that routes users to curated wiki.gg resources.

The underlying technology stack is built on MediaWiki, the open-source wiki engine that powers Wikipedia, supplemented by platform-specific tooling developed by wiki.gg's developer team. Featured franchise partnerships include Terraria, Deep Rock Galactic, Dead Cells, and ARK, which anchor the platform's gaming portfolio. The business model is not publicly disclosed: there is no pricing information available, new wiki creation requests are currently closed, and the company provides no disclosed revenue figures, headcount, or funding history. Go-to-market is community-driven, primarily through a Discord server for creator engagement and organic search discovery via the wiki.gg directory.

Direct peers

• Fandom: Fandom (formerly Wikia) is the largest commercial wiki hosting platform focused on games, entertainment, and pop-culture franchises. It is the most direct competitor to wiki.gg, serving the same gaming-community knowledge-base use case at substantially greater scale.
• ShoutWiki: ShoutWiki is a MediaWiki-based wiki hosting service that lets communities create and host their own wikis. It serves the same 'hosted MediaWiki for niche communities' use case as wiki.gg.
• Miraheze: Miraheze is a non-profit MediaWiki hosting platform offering free wiki creation across general-interest and gaming topics. It competes with wiki.gg in the same MediaWiki-hosted wiki-creation segment, though via a volunteer-run model.
• Gamepedia: Gamepedia historically operated as a dedicated wiki-hosting network for video games and was eventually merged into Fandom. It is directly comparable to wiki.gg as a game-focused MediaWiki-based wiki host.

Others

• Notion: Notion is a general-purpose collaborative knowledge base and wiki tool used by gaming-adjacent teams and fan communities. It is an adjacent alternative for collaborative documentation rather than a direct game-wiki host.
• Discord: Discord is the primary community-engagement channel wiki.gg itself uses and where many gaming communities now consolidate lore and guides. It is an adjacent ecosystem player competing for the same community-attention budget.

Emerging players

• Bulbapedia: Bulbapedia is a large, independently hosted MediaWiki encyclopedia for the Pokémon franchise. It demonstrates the scale a single franchise wiki can reach and is structurally similar to wiki.gg-hosted game wikis like the Helldivers Wiki.
• Neoseeker: Neoseeker runs game wikis, guides, and community forums for a range of PC and console titles. It overlaps with wiki.gg's gaming-knowledge-base positioning but operates more as a guides/community hub than a wiki host.
• Giant Bomb: Giant Bomb is a game-focused wiki and media property acquired by Fandom. It overlaps with wiki.gg's gaming-wiki use case, with comparable editorial content around game mechanics, lore, and communities.

Broad incumbents

• Wikimedia Foundation: Wikimedia operates Wikipedia and the broader MediaWiki ecosystem that wiki.gg is built on. While non-profit and encyclopedic rather than commercial, it shapes the underlying technology, community norms, and SEO landscape wiki.gg operates within.
