What Resume Genius does

Resume Genius is an online SaaS resume-building platform founded in 2008 and operated by Sonaga Tech Limited, headquartered in Luzern, Switzerland, under the broader corporate umbrella of Bold Limited, Bold LLC, and Bold Holdings LLC. The platform serves individual job seekers — primarily in the US, UK, and France — by providing an integrated suite of resume, cover letter, and CV creation tools. Core products include the Genius Resume Builder, AI Cover Letter Generator, and Professional CV Maker, supported by an extensive content library of 450+ templates, 1,000+ resume examples, and 200+ cover letter templates, the majority reviewed by Certified Professional Resume Writers (CPRWs).

The underlying platform is a cloud-based web application combining automatic document formatting (sections, fonts, margins, spacing) with AI-driven content generation for summaries, bullet points, skills, and cover letters, plus an ATS Resume Checker that evaluates keyword optimization and parsing compatibility. The technology stack integrates with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages, Canva, Adobe InDesign, LaTeX, and LibreOffice through downloadable templates rather than native API integrations, and there is no documented public API.

Resume Genius operates a freemium go-to-market motion: free users can create resumes and download TXT files or copy-paste templates, while premium subscriptions unlock Word/PDF downloads, premium templates, and advanced features. Distribution is product-led and content-led, with SEO-optimized blog content cited by Forbes, BBC, CNBC, WSJ, and Fortune, plus active social channels including YouTube, TikTok (videos exceeding 1.8M views), Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Giphy. The company reports "millions of users" and a 4.5/5 Trustpilot rating, and operates wholly-owned regional sub-brands CVGenius.com (UK) and CVGenius.com/fr (France) for international CV content.
