Descriptiontext

Virginia Interventional and Vascular Associates (VIVA) is a private outpatient medical practice headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a second location in Stafford. The practice is fully owned and operated by Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg (RAF), described as the largest provider of radiologic and vascular surgery services in the greater Fredericksburg region. VIVA is positioned as the only outpatient interventional radiology practice in the region, staffed by board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons recruited from programs including Yale, Georgetown, Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of Virginia, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

VIVA's core offering is image-guided, minimally invasive procedures spanning embolization, ablation, and catheter-based treatments. The service line includes varicose vein treatments (RFA, EVLT, sclerotherapy, VenaSeal), peripheral arterial disease interventions, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty for compression fractures, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), prostate artery embolization (PAE), hemorrhoid artery embolization (HAE), genicular artery embolization (GAE), Y-90 radioembolization for liver tumors, dialysis access management, pain management injections, and an IAC-accredited vascular ultrasound lab. The practice also provides radiology second-opinion interpretations and physician-written educational content. Procedures are typically same-day, outpatient interventions with recovery times measured in days rather than the weeks associated with open surgery.

VIVA generates revenue through fee-for-service billing to insurance carriers including Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, Anthem, CareFirst, Cigna, and Humana, with out-of-network options available. Patient acquisition is primarily referral-driven via partnerships with Mary Washington Healthcare, Stafford Hospital, and local primary care, urology, and gynecology practices, supplemented by direct patient self-referral and a multi-channel content marketing program (website, condition-specific quizzes, newsletters, video library, Facebook, and Instagram). The practice holds AAAHC ambulatory accreditation and operates the only Virginia-based Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence designation through its sister entity, Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg.
