What Taom Tips does
Taom Tips, operating as Taom Billiards and legally Taomtips Oy, is a privately held Finnish manufacturer of premium billiards and cuesports consumables founded by Toni Ursin and headquartered in Jyväskylä. The company designs and sells professional-grade chalk (V10, Pyro, Soft, Snooker Chalk 2.0, Pool Chalk 2.0, plus limited color editions), leather cue tips (Pro, Fusion, Heat, BJ3) using proprietary multi-layer and single-layer construction techniques, and an accessory line spanning magnetic chalk holders, racking cloths, racks, gloves, branded apparel, towels, and gift boxes. Technology differentiation rests on proprietary chalk formulations engineered to deliver maximum grip without residue and on multi-layer pigskin/cowhide tip architectures that maintain consistent feel from edge to centre, supplemented by a QR-code based product authentication system for anti-counterfeiting.
The business model is direct-to-consumer hardware sales with global shipping from a single Finnish warehouse, augmented by a worldwide official reseller network and payment processing via Paytrail. Pricing is unit-based in EUR (€15-€17 per chalk, €17-€25 per cue tip, €13-€37 for accessories) with volume discounts through 6- and 9-pack offerings and a €280 free-shipping threshold; digital gift cards (€20-€500) were introduced in 2026 to broaden the gifting channel. Go-to-market relies on a Pro Team of 200+ professional players across snooker, pool, and 3-cushion billiards, including world champions Shaun Murphy, John Higgins, Mark Williams, Neil Robertson, Mika Immonen, Dick Jaspers, and Gareth Potts, with the brand serving as Official Chalk Partner of the World Snooker Tour and sponsor of the 2026 World Snooker Championship. Customer segments span elite professionals, serious amateur enthusiasts, and billiards halls/clubs, with no external venture or institutional funding disclosed.
