Federación Galega de Baloncesto

What Federación Galega de Baloncesto does

Federación Galega de Baloncesto (FEGABA) is the officially recognized regional basketball federation for the Galicia autonomous community of Spain, operating under the umbrella of the Federación Española de Baloncesto (FEB) and with institutional backing from the Xunta de Galicia. The federation organizes official basketball leagues across all categories (minibasket, infantil, cadete, junior, and senior, in both masculine and feminine divisions), the annual Copa Galicia tournament, and multiple 3x3 circuits (3x3 URBAN – Deputación de Pontevedra, DepOUrense Basket, Go! Go! Zo!). It certifies coaches through the Escola Galega de Adestradores and referees through the Comité Galego de Árbitros de Baloncesto (CGAB), provides sports insurance for registered members, and fields Galician regional selections for national inter-regional championships.

The federation's technology stack is built on commodity open-source platforms rather than proprietary technology: a WordPress CMS powers the main portal at fegaba.com; a Moodle-based LMS runs the Campus FEGABA virtual campus for coach and referee training; and competition results are managed via the FEB-hosted competiciones.feb.es platform. Supporting digital properties include Rexistro FEGABA (club registration portal), Tenda FEGABA (e-commerce store for merchandise and course enrollment), and a mobile app on iOS and Android. Marketing and distribution run through six social channels (Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, TikTok), four provincial deputations (Lugo, A Coruña, Pontevedra, Ourense), and multiple municipal host venues across Galicia.

As a private nonprofit sports federation, FEGABA generates revenue through club affiliation and membership fees, competition and event registration fees, sports insurance premiums, course enrollment, equipment and retail sponsorships (Wilson, JIM Sports, Gadis, Eurobán, Interrias), and institutional grants from the Galician government and provincial councils. No public pricing is disclosed. The organization employs 11-50 staff at its Santiago de Compostela headquarters and is currently undergoing a 2026 electoral cycle for its governing assembly.
