Descriptiontext

La Filippa SpA is an Italian non-hazardous industrial waste disposal company operating a single landfill facility in Cairo Montenotte, Savona (Liguria), with its registered office in Genoa. Founded in 2008 by brothers Massimo and Carlo Vaccari — fourth-generation Ligurian entrepreneurs from a brick-making family — the facility was constructed in a reclaimed clay quarry built on a natural geological barrier exceeding 200 meters in thickness, providing structural safety and impermeability roughly ten times regulatory requirements. The company accepts only solid, non-hazardous, non-perishable waste (inert materials, excavation soils, water-treatment sludge, and non-recoverable mixed fractions of rubber, plastic, paper, textiles, and glass), a deliberate design choice that eliminates biogas generation and simplifies percolate handling. Its core technology is a proprietary waste-acceptance and homologation process called the FRS (La Filippa Responsive System), backed by a continuous monitoring program of more than 60 environmental controls per year across air, soil, water, percolate, noise, and biogas.

The business model is transactional and consumption-based: industrial customers submit waste for inspection, chemical analysis, and homologation before disposal, with pricing determined per load via an online quote portal. Customers are primarily manufacturing, construction, excavation, and recycling-sector companies in Liguria and northern/central Italy that require final disposal of non-recyclable waste fractions. The company reported approximately €13 million in 2024 revenue with ~€8 million EBITDA (~62% margin), reflecting a recurring revenue base tied to the steady flow of industrial waste that cannot otherwise be recovered. It maintains a comprehensive certification stack (ISO 14001 since 2009, EMAS since 2011, ISO 45001 in 2026, and maximum three-star Rating di Legalità from AGCM). In January 2026, La Filippa was acquired by Séché Environnement (France) as part of a ~€230 million transaction that also included Hidronor Chile; Federico Poli continues as CEO and Massimo Vaccari as President, with the company now positioned within a multinational environmental services group.
