RTV Connect

What RTV Connect does

RTV Connect is a Dutch regional broadcaster (streekomroep) founded in 2021 and headquartered in Zevenaar, Netherlands, serving the Arnhem and Liemers region in the province of Gelderland. The company operates across eight municipalities — Arnhem, Doesburg, Duiven, Lingewaard, Renkum, Westervoort, Zevenaar, and the Grensstreek border region — producing local news, sports coverage (notably Vitesse football), weather and traffic updates, regional events, and community programming. Its distribution footprint spans traditional broadcast (four FM frequencies: 94.0 FM Liemers, 104.9 FM Doesburg, 105.9 FM Arnhem, 106.6 FM Renkum; DAB+ Channel 7B), cable and IPTV carriage (Ziggo channels 41/915, Odido 724, KPN 1319, Fiber 3021), and digital streaming via its website, TuneIn, radioNED, and dedicated iOS and Android mobile applications.

The core product portfolio comprises Connect TV (live and on-demand regional television), Connect Radio (live radio programming with editorial shows such as Connect Sport, Connect Politiek, and Vitesse Live), and Connect Classics (a separate classic-hits radio format). Supporting products include the Actua & Tekst TV news bulletin, Weekoverzicht weekly review, Nieuws van de dag (simplified-language news updates), Podcast Of Hope, and an Uitagenda events calendar. The organization maintains active social media presence across Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, plus an email newsletter for subscriber engagement.

RTV Connect's revenue model is not publicly disclosed but, consistent with Dutch regional public broadcasting, is presumed to combine public broadcasting funding mechanisms (likely subsidy allocations under the Dutch media law framework governing streekomroepen) with local advertising and sponsorship. Pricing is not published and no premium subscription tiers are evident. The company operates as an independent private media organization with no disclosed parent company, institutional investors, or acquisition activity, employing between 11 and 50 staff.

Direct peers

• RTV Utrecht: Regional public broadcaster serving the Utrecht province. Same Dutch streekomroep product mix — local TV, radio, online news, mobile app, and newsletters — making it a near-perfect operational analog for RTV Connect, though in a different province.
• RN7 (RTV Noord): Regional public broadcaster for the province of Groningen under the Dutch streekomroep framework. Operates the same product model (TV, radio, digital, apps, newsletters) for a defined geographic audience and is structurally comparable in funding and operations.
• Omroep Gelderland: Province-wide regional public broadcaster for Gelderland, the same province RTV Connect serves. Omroep Gelderland is the larger, better-resourced incumbent that RTV Connect directly competes with for local news, sports, and advertising budgets within the Arnhem/Liemers sub-region.
• NH Media: Regional broadcaster for the North Holland province (including Amsterdam region), operating the Dutch streekomroep model. Comparable in product mix and operational structure to RTV Connect, though at significantly larger scale and urban audience.
• Omroep Brabant: Regional public broadcaster for Noord-Brabant operating the same Dutch streekomroep model with TV, radio, digital, and event/community programming. Comparable in scale and structure to RTV Connect, though serving a much larger and more urban audience.
• Omroep Zeeland: Regional public broadcaster serving the province of Zeeland under the Dutch streekomroep framework. Same product mix and funding model as RTV Connect, making it a direct structural peer for comparison on regional reach and economics.
• RTV Rijnmond: Regional public broadcaster for the Rotterdam-Rijnmond area in South Holland. Larger and more urban than RTV Connect but operates an identical streekomroep product model (TV, radio, digital, app, newsletter) for a defined regional audience.
• L1 (Limburg): Regional public broadcaster for the province of Limburg. Operates the same TV + radio + digital streekomroep model for a defined Dutch provincial audience, making it a structural peer even though the geographic audience does not overlap.

Regional players

• AT5: Amsterdam-focused regional broadcaster operating TV and digital channels under the Dutch regional public media framework. Comparable in product architecture and audience scale challenges to RTV Connect, though concentrated on a single urban market rather than multiple municipalities.
• Regio8: Regional broadcaster serving the Achterhoek area in eastern Gelderland. Same Dutch streekomroep model as RTV Connect, with comparable product mix (TV, radio, online) and funding structure, but operating in an adjacent non-overlapping sub-region of the same province.
