Acquarena

What Acquarena does

Acquarena is a public aquatic and wellness complex located in Brixen/Bressanone, South Tyrol, Italy, operated by Stadtwerke Brixen AG — a municipal utility company owned by the city of Brixen (VAT IT01717730210). The facility operates year-round with an indoor pool complex that includes a fun pool, sports pool, children's pool, saltwater pool and whirlpool, and expands seasonally with an outdoor pool (open June to early September) featuring additional lawn, ball fields, and a large children's playground. Beyond the core pool infrastructure, Acquarena runs a seven-cabin sauna with panorama terraces, a fitness studio, a multidisciplinary physiotherapy center (physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports scientists, massage therapists), a kids camp, and the on-site Grissino restaurant.

The business model is multi-vertical and consumer-facing, monetizing the facility through day tickets, memberships, sauna admissions, fitness subscriptions, physiotherapy treatments, kids camp fees, swimming courses, and F&B. Go-to-market is primarily walk-in/physical access at the single Brixen site, supplemented by a partner hotel program (at least 14 hotels across Brixen, Mühlbach/Vals, Natz-Schabs and Vintl) that offers free pool access and discounted sauna to guests, plus distribution through the Tourism Association Brixen (brixen.org) and organic channels (website, Facebook, Instagram, Tripadvisor, newsletter). Programmatic content — swimming courses, performance groups, and diving — is delivered on-site by three embedded sports clubs (SSV Brixen Sektion Schwimmen, Schwimmclub Brixen, and Taucherverein Brixen). Pricing is not publicly disclosed; the company's digital footprint is limited to a multilingual (DE/IT/EN) brochure-style website using Matomo for self-hosted analytics, with no native mobile app, no APIs, and no disclosed AI/ML capabilities.
