Ordine Architetti PPC Como

What Ordine Architetti PPC Como does

The Ordine degli Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori della provincia di Como (Ordine Architetti PPC Como) is a statutory professional body established in 1923 under Italian law to regulate and represent architects, territorial planners, landscape architects, and conservators of architectural and environmental heritage practicing in the Province of Como, Lombardy. It maintains the official Albo (professional register), issues certification (tesserino), administers disciplinary and ethical oversight, and provides member infrastructure including free PEC certified email, professional liability insurance facilitation, legal and fiscal advisory, a professional search directory, and a classifieds platform. The Order also operates cultural and educational programs, most notably the Premio Maestri Comacini (a 30-year architecture award), the inaugural 2023 Festival di Architettura 'luoGO COmune' celebrating the centenary of the Italian professional order system, the 'Abitare il paese' school program, and the 'A tutto tondo' cultural exhibition series. Day-to-day operations are run by 21 staff from the Novocomum headquarters at Viale Sinigaglia 1 in Como under the leadership of President Margherita Mojoli, with a Digital Transition Officer responsible for digital modernization.

The Order's technology footprint is centered on a Next.js-based institutional website and a separate member portal (o2.ordinearchitetticomo.it) that integrates SPID authentication across 14 identity providers (PosteID, InfoCert, ArubaPEC, InfoCamere, Namirial, LepidaID, Sielte ID, TI Trust Technologies, TeamSystem ID, Intesi Group, EtnaID, Register.it) and CIE electronic identity card login, enabling secure access to the reserved area for profile management, PEC activation, and member services. The platform supports online new-registration, transfers from other Orders, and re-registrations, and complies with EU 2016/2102 / D.lgs 106/2018 web accessibility requirements (declaration filed on the AGID portal) and GDPR data-protection obligations. The Order distributes services through three channels: the self-serve online portal, the public professional search directory, and in-person services at the Como headquarters.

The business model is that of an Italian 'ente pubblico' (public professional association): revenue is not commercially disclosed and derives from mandatory annual membership dues paid by registered professionals (e.g., a 168.00 EUR government concession fee plus an annual quota), supplemented by institutional patronage and grants from municipal and provincial authorities for cultural programming. The Order holds a regional monopoly on registration and certification within Como province and is overseen at the national level by the Consiglio Nazionale degli Architetti PPC. Customer segments are exclusively the four regulated professional personas (architects, territorial planners, landscape architects, conservators) legally required to register, with the general public as an indirect beneficiary of the Albo search and cultural events.

Regional players

• American Institute of Architects (AIA): US professional association for licensed architects providing member certification, continuing education, advocacy, and awards; international comparator to the Italian Ordini system in terms of professional-body function and service mix.
• Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA): UK chartered body for architects offering registration, validation of qualifications, awards, and CPD; internationally recognized peer in the professional-order category serving a different national jurisdiction but offering comparable member services.

Others

• Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Como: Sister professional order for engineers in Como province; partner on joint initiatives (Festival di Architettura patronage), shares the same statutory membership-body structure but represents the engineering profession rather than architecture.
• Consulta Regionale Lombarda degli Architetti PPC: Regional coordination body for Lombardy Architects' Orders, of which Como's Order is a constituent; provides patronage and regional-level coordination, sitting between provincial orders and the national council.
• Collegio Provinciale Geometri e Geometri Laureati di Como: Provincial professional body for surveyors (geometri) in Como; partner on the Festival di Architettura and adjacent to the Architects' Order in the Italian built-environment professional ecosystem.

Direct peers

• Ordine degli Architetti PPC della Provincia di Roma: Provincial Architects' Order covering Rome, operating the same statutory functions (Albo, PEC, awards, training) under the same Consiglio Nazionale framework; comparable in structure to Ordine Como but serving a far larger urban member base.
• Ordine degli Architetti PPC della Provincia di Milano: Largest Italian provincial Architects' Order, operating under identical statutory mandate in neighboring Milan; structurally and functionally a direct peer — same legal framework, same services (registration, PEC, awards), but at much larger scale.

Broad incumbents

• Consiglio Nazionale degli Architetti PPC: National-level federation coordinating all 100+ Italian provincial Architects' Orders, including Como; provides patronage, national policy advocacy, and overarching standards — the apex body that Ordine Como is affiliated with.
