What Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery of the Diocese of Palm Beach does

Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery of the Diocese of Palm Beach is a non-profit Catholic cemetery located at 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, Florida, operating since its consecration in 1974 by Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll of Miami and integrated into the Diocese of Palm Beach in 1984. The cemetery serves the Catholic faithful of the Parishes and Missions of the Diocese of Palm Beach, offering full-body in-ground burial, mausoleum crypts (including the Resurrection Mausoleum and the Compassion Crypt of St. Joseph of Arimathea), cremation niches, private estates, monuments, urns, and vaults. It also operates the ecumenical No One Buried Alone (NOBA) ministry, co-founded in 2011 with Palm Beach County Department of Human Services and JFK Medical Center, which has provided dignified burial for over 700 unclaimed deceased individuals, and the Angel of Hope Children's Memorial Garden for bereaved parents.

The organization is supported by a small staff of 14 and runs a programmatic calendar of Catholic liturgical services including Monthly Mind Mass, All Saints Day Mass, Memorial Day Mass, and Blue Mass for first responders. Its technology footprint consists of a website (ourqueen.org) built by webCemeteries, an online burial record search and memorial-building platform, a WooCommerce-based online shop for flower programs, power washing, and donations, and standard third-party integrations including Google Analytics, Vimeo video hosting, and calendar integrations (Google Calendar, iCalendar, Outlook 365, Outlook Live). Revenue is generated through one-time sales of burial rights (plots, crypts, niches), interment and memorial service fees, ancillary merchandise (silk flower arrangements priced $20-$870, power washing at $100), and voluntary donations ranging from $10-$500. Customer acquisition is driven by direct engagement at the cemetery office with Family Service Advisors, parish referrals across the Diocese, funeral home referrals, diocesan communications, and SEO/discovery of burial record searches.

The organization's strategic positioning is anchored in its exclusive Catholic consecration, its unique NOBA compassion ministry, and its regional monopoly as the official Catholic cemetery for the Diocese of Palm Beach. Operating geographies are limited to Palm Beach County, Florida, with no external funding rounds, no venture capital participation, and no disclosed revenues. The entity is governed as a religious non-profit under the Diocese of Palm Beach, with the Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito serving as Bishop.

Scale indicators4 records

Recent moves6 records

Expansion highlights5 records

Broad incumbents

• Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries: Large-scale private cemetery and mortuary operator on the U.S. West Coast/Florida edges; competes with Our Lady Queen of Peace for Florida residents seeking full-service death care outside a religious framework.
• Dignity Memorial (Service Corporation International): Largest North American operator of funeral homes and cemeteries; competes broadly in death care with extensive resources, brand, and supply chain scale that ourqueen.org cannot match.
• Rose Hills Memorial Park: One of the largest cemeteries in North America with full mortuary and cremation services; comparable product breadth (burial, mausoleum, niches, cremation) at much larger scale.

Emerging players

• National Cremation Society: Cremation-focused death care provider competing for the same at-need families that are increasingly choosing cremation over traditional burial; a structural threat to traditional cemetery plot sales.

Direct peers

• StoneMor Partners: Public cemetery and funeral home operator with multi-site cemetery portfolio; competes directly for cemetery plot, mausoleum, and niche sales with a more commercial operating model.
• Gate of Heaven Cemetery: Catholic cemetery with consecrated grounds, mausoleum, niches, and pre-planning services serving Catholic parishes. Comparable model, customer demographic, and interment-right product portfolio.
• Hollywood Forever Cemetery: Historic cemetery offering traditional burial, mausoleum, cremation niches, and event-based memorial services; comparable cemetery product mix and use of digital/marketing channels.
• Resurrection Cemetery: Catholic cemetery offering in-ground burial, mausoleum crypts, cremation niches, and memorial services with parish-based pre-planning—directly comparable product mix and Catholic demographic focus.
• Calvary Cemetery (operated by various Catholic Dioceses): Catholic diocesan cemeteries operating with similar consecrated-ground, perpetual-care, and parish-referral models. The most directly comparable peer on mission, customer base, and product structure.

Others

• Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach: Sister Catholic nonprofit organization in the Diocese of Palm Beach; not a direct competitor but a key referral and outreach partner that shares the same donor base and parish ecosystem.
